BLB is engaged by Microsoft Corporation in Georgia

BLB is pleased to announce that it has been engaged as an Outside Legal Counsel of Microsoft Corporation (commonly referred to as the “Microsoft”) in Georgia. Microsoft is the world’s largest multinational technology company that develops, manufactures, licenses, supports and sells computer software, consumer electronics and personal computers and services.

Microsoft’s imminent goal in Georgia, being among the countries with highest rate in use of piratic software products, is to achieve active enforcement of its intellectual property rights in order to reduce software piracy.

As part of a campaign to reduce software piracy, in March 2015, Georgian Government made the major step forward by signing memorandum with Microsoft based on which all State institutions in Georgia are to use only licensed Microsoft software products.

Having a clear mission to enforce its intellectual property rights in Georgia, Microsoft seeks to uphold the highest ethical, legal and business standards and we at BLB are proud to support Microsoft in this endeavor. To date we have brought to a successful completion every enforcement action we took on behalf of Microsoft, thereby, playing a pivotal role in reducing software piracy in Georgia.

Microsoft is advised by specially designated team of BLB led by Managing Partner, Mr. Kakha Sharabidze, who is one of the authors of Georgian Copyright Law.

"Kakha Sharabidze is noted for his experience in cross-border work across a range of areas, including acquisitions, finance, corporate and real estate. "His knowledge of the law and experience really struck me," a client reports."
